Act Locally Waco

In the summer of 2021, I worked as a Creative Writing intern at a non-profit in Waco, Texas called Act Locally Waco. Their mission was to unite the diverse city and inform its residents of events, news, and community involvement opportunities.

This was a piece I wrote for Act Locally Waco about a beloved local restaurant that burned down and was forced to rebuild. Owner Juanita Barrientos agreed to be interviewed on her experience and provided insight into when the eatery would be reopening.

Another piece I wrote for the organization on a summer food program that was keeping Waco children fueled for the summer while school was out.
