Who I am: I’m Maddie—A writer, reader, learner, travel bug, and em dash enthusiast. I’m a city girl at heart, but midwest born and raised with a soft spot for my little college town nestled in the south. You can usually find me perusing the aisles of a bookstore, looking for hidden gems at my favorite thrift shops, or huddling over a current read in the corner of a coffee shop. Nixa, Missouri, is where I call home now, but I am always in pursuit of my next adventure.
Why I write: I believe a set of words strung together in just the right way has the power to evoke change, provide comfort in times of need, or offer new ways of thinking. It can be an outlet for anger, a means of understanding, a tool of persuasion, or an act of love. It can be just for you, it can be for the ones close to you, or it can be shared with the whole world. Writing is whatever you make it and I love reinventing the craft every time I put pen to paper.
